Delicato Family Vineyards is looking for detail-oriented, independent and hardworking individuals to work the 2014 harvest as a Grape Sampler under general direction of the Grower Relations and Viticulture teams. This is an excellent entry-level learning opportunity for someone interested in viticulture, enology, winemaking or any other wine related position. Positions are based in Napa County. These temporary assignments will last from July 21 through early to mid-October and will average approximately 40-48 hours per week.
Grape Samplers will perform the following duties:
• Drive up to 150 miles per day in the five county area (Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Lake, Mendocino)
• Conduct sampling duties in a timely manner with a high degree of consisentcy of sampling method
• Process samples and conduct brix readings
• Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Learn and recognize basic vine diseases and pest issues
• Communicate daily with Viticulture Representative and Grower Relations Manager on vineyard status
Qualified candidates must possess the following abilities:
• Follow written and verbal instructions
• Organize, read, write, and communicate effectively with Sampling Team
• Read maps, understand compass directions, use handheld GPS device and be able to apply general logisitical practices of route planning and navigating directions on unmarked roads
• Walk for extended periods over unsteady surfaces including up and down hillsides
• Operate a motor vehicle safely and possess a clean driving record (no points within last three years)
• Work independently for long periods of time
• Work overtime and weekends in varying environmental conditions
