POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for performing professional accounting functions, including providing specialized and general financial analysis for Crimson Wine Group. The Accounting Manager will manage the month end close process consistent with corporate standards to ensure that financial information is timely, accurate, and complete. The position primarily supports the Corporate Controller, but also will provide assistance to the CWG Finance Department with daily/weekly analysis and reporting projects, month-end close, and the annual audit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the general accounting process, including A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets and General Ledger.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of monthly closings.
- Review and approve journal entries.
- Perform and review/approve general ledger account reconciliations.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Coordinate with external auditors, including responding to requests and assisting in the preparation of audit schedules.
- Analyze department workflow and make recommendations for improving processes.
- Collaborate with department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
- Assist in managing relationships with outside accountants, auditors and other professionals as required.
- Assist in implementing and evaluating internal accounting controls compliant with SOX requirements.
- Manage staff and provide training, timely reviews and performance evaluations.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other Business related major required, CPA preferred.
- 5-7 years of general accounting experience.
- Understanding of accounting theory, GAAP, and SOX.
- Experience managing 2+ staff.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Strong work ethic, ability to adapt to rapidly-changing environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced excel skills required.
- Microsoft Navision software experience a plus.
- Strong demonstrated leadership and team process skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with a high level of integrity.
- Strong organizational, project, and time management expertise; critical attention to deadlines.
- Ability to multi task and respond quickly and accurately to demanding situations with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
