Position Summary:

As the Vice President and Controller, your primary responsibilities are to direct and coordinate Delicato’s financial reporting and budget management functions.  Your role leads the financial reporting processes and ensures that internal and external financial results are timely, accurate and in accordance with all applicable regulatory guidelines, and that our fiduciary obligations to the Board and Shareholders are met.  You direct the independent financial statement audit including completion of audited financial statements and management discussion.  In addition, you lead the preparation of monthly financial forecasts and analysis of the monthly operating results against budget.  In this role, you are also responsible for the development, modification and implementation of all accounting policies and procedures, and for ensuring that a strong internal controls environment is in place.  Overseeing the daily operations of the finance department, including leadership, mentoring and development of staff, are additional key responsibilities of your position.

• Leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of other leaders including directors, and managers.
• Formulating and implementing the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business in your area of responsibility.
• Achieving the organization’s overall strategic goals and profitability requirements as determined by the strategic plans.
• Forming, staffing, guiding, leading, and managing an organization sufficient to accomplish the vice president’s responsibilities and job requirements.
• Overseeing the complete operation of an organization in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plans.
• Evaluating the success of the organization, and implementing changes where necessary to ensure success.
• Maintaining awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments and standards, and so forth.
• Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the President or the CEO.
• Holding self and others responsible for the demonstrating the company culture through personal behavior and actions.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

• Ensures that accurate books and records are maintained and that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Ensures financial policies, procedures, and systems are appropriate and support company vision, operational goals, desired culture, and high performance as well as protect company interests.
• Oversees the divisional finance staff to help achieve desired results including coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as well as planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
• Ensures departmental activities are consistent with meeting the company’s stated commitments.
• Establishes, implements, and monitors short and long term departmental budgetary goals.
• Builds strong relationships with other functional leaders to recommend and implement solutions to company issues and financial IS system infrastructure improvements.
• Plan and coordinate the external audit process, including oversight of independent auditor and staff. Coordinate and prepare the annual audited financial statements including related footnote disclosures and accompanying management discussion and analysis.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA required, MBA preferred but not required.

Knowledge:
• Minimum of 10-15 years of senior financial management experience in a dynamic business environment.
• Consumer Products industry experience required, with wine and spirits industry experience considered a plus.
• Accomplished leader and manager of people with the ability to attract, develop, and retain a strong team.
• Demonstrated success in implementing internal controls, budgets, and forecasting systems in a project environment with the ability to analyze against plan
• Extensive experience dealing cross-functionally with multiple divisions across the organization.
