Delicato Family Vineyards has an immediate career opportunity for a Production Manager-Bottling in our Manteca, CA facility.

Position Summary:

As a Production Manager, you are the driving force behind the success of your assigned shift.  Working with the Bottling Operations Manager, peers and team members to develop and implement efficient and cost effective systems centered on employee safety, customer expectations, clear communication, streamlined processes and effective job execution.  You are responsible for engaging your team, soliciting feedback, and ensuring the bottling operation is functioning at maximum potential. Measures of success include fully trained staff members, active employee engagement, Lean standards are adhered to, and maximum wine and packaging quality standards are achieved.

Manager Responsibilities:

  • Understands, communicates, and shares Company vision throughout division/organization and provide cross-functional perspective, direction, and support
  • Provides leadership and personal support; coaches, guides, nurtures and develops the right people; “walk the talk”
  • Drives Company focus, manages culture, encourages strong work ethic, and fosters an environment of trust and respect
  • Develops group and individual performance plans in alignment with Company goals and objectives; communicates clearly defined individual and group objectives; maintains level of productivity in unit
  • Trains employees to do their job; sets standards for work performance
  • Monitors performance and provides feedback to direct reports through formal and informal  performance feedback; regularly communicates with staff to  achieve mutual understanding and desired results
  • Recognizes and addresses performance strengths and limitations of subordinates
  • Manages employee attendance to ensure compliance with Company standards; approve/monitor overtime
  • Communicates and supports Company policies and decisions in a positive manner
  • Develops staffing needs, selects new employees, makes recommendations in job evaluation and compensation, and recommends termination actions
  • Conducts team meetings with department employees; includes monthly safety topic
  • Handles employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner
  • Provides employees with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding work environment
  • Prepares and monitors department budget (per assigned shift)

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages, coaches and directs bottling and assigned staff to meet or exceed established cost, quality, and productivity standards
  • Develops, implements, and maintains performance and quality measurement and feedback tools
  • Manages assigned shift business planning, budgeting, training, quality improvement, Delicato Operational Excellence (DOE), and spending control processes
  • Together with peers and maintenance ensures the correct operability of assigned equipment on all lines
  • Supports material testing processes for new product development initiatives
  • Acts as the ISO9001: 2008 shift representative responsible for ensuring bottling documentation is current and employees are trained and adhering to all  requirements/standards
  • Manages HACCP requirements and is responsible for team training, understanding, and adherence
  • Understands, implements, and enforces current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Manages and increases line capacity and associated efficiencies with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Active participation and team leadership in DOE
  • Ensures a high level of quality for all bottled finished cased goods
  • Coordinates with accounting and compliance departments to ensure that the bottling staff performs and records case goods inventory counts and  transfers in accordance with TTB and Delicato guidelines
  • Coordinates PM and related maintenance activities to ensure consistency and appropriate technical support and oversight

Equipment and Materials Utilized:

Type:

  • Computers in a Microsoft environment (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook), phone, periodic forklift and passenger vehicle (must possess valid CDL)

Position Requirements:

Education

  • BS degree in business, food science, or related field, or equivalent

Experience:

  • 7 or more year’s broad management experience in production operations
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Excellent communication skills – both formal and informal with the ability to effectively coach employees and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Key Leadership Competencies in addition to ethics/values and integrity/ trust, action oriented, decision quality, priority setting, timely decision making and  time management

Knowledge:

  • Requires in-depth experience in a high paced production environment
  • Experience in a Lean work environment is highly desired
  • Possesses strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrated practical production line knowledge
  • Ability to oversee process improvement, cost control and customer requirements
