Position Summary:

Ensures all winemaking and bottling processing requirements are scheduled, documented and makes efficient use of cellar resources and capacity.  Translates winemaking detailed and general requirements into specific instructions for Cellar Operations. Coordinates with Supply Chain Production Planning, Grape Scheduling Planner, and Bulk Shipping Coordinator to produce an integrated, detailed production plan.  Provides detailed work packages to the Cellar for weekly work based upon the production plan. Works closely with Winemakers, Cellar Master and Cellar Supervisors to produces plan/schedule adjustments as needed. Provides technical support for production plan interpretation and authorizes processing plan deviations.

Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Prioritizes, produces monitors and communicates weekly detailed cellar production plan based upon input from Winemaking, Supply Chain Production Planning, Customer Account Managers (CAMs)
  • Serves as the planner for cellar production to meet company bottling, shipping schedules, wine storage and wine maintenance (temperature control) requirements
  • Builds and develops processes for tank capacity planning
  • Identifies process improvements and recommends solutions
  • Verifies material requirements are available for use within schedule timelines with the Skilled Material Handler
  • Resolves detailed production conflicts based upon the production plan.  Make changes or corrections to Production Orders and adjusts production plan as needed
  • Monitors and schedules processing within established tank allocations
  • Produces and reviews Cellar Production Orders as per established winemaking criteria
  • Provides daily updates to Cellar Supervisors on the weekly plan.  Responsible for effective communication of plan and Production Order adjustments
  • Monitors Production Order completions and releases next step in processing flow as queued on the production plan and approved by Winemaking. This includes bottling and export shipping filtrations.
  • Attends production and/or bottling scheduling meetings as requested
  • Checks e-mails throughout the day for any requests from winemaking or changes relayed by other departments that would affect production
  • Establishes harvest season processing plans, goals, and guidelines in conjunction with winemaking criteria, programs, and available resources
  • Attends daily grape scheduling meetings
  • Writes and reviews Production Orders for grape receiving, fermenter ingredient additions and solids management
  • Creates lot numbers for new vintage grapes, juice and wines
  • Writes drain and press and rack out of Drop Zone Production Orders.  Coordinates closely with Skilled Material Handler regarding harvest ingredient inventory

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

High School Diploma.  2-5 years’ experience in large scale winery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good wine production knowledge, process management familiarity, strong communication and organizational skills.  Excellent problem solving and planning skills necessary.
