Position Summary:
The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating all goods for DFV logistics and distribution channels. Logistics activities will include scheduling inbound and outbound transportation, identifying best mode of transportation, administration of required documentation, transact inventory movements within SAP, and oversight over transportation service providers.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules and coordinates the movement of dry materials, bulk wine and finished goods to internal and external customers
- Partners cross-functionally with suppliers, service providers, and customers to identify logistical improvement opportunities and implement solutions
- Provides input on freight rates analysis and maintain positive business relationships with outside vendors
- Develops cost savings through maximizing lane efficiencies and driving effective cost per case performance
- Works with transportation providers, ensuring adequate service and equipment levels
- Verifies items shipped by matching bills of lading; reconciling quantities, noting discrepancies
- Consults with suppliers and customers to understand their distribution networks, and determine the logistics resources required to meet their needs
- Enhances visibility of transportation plans to ensure DFV employees are informed and comply with programs
- Responsible for internal communications and presentations related to key performance metrics, program updates, and on-going program information
- Identifies, investigates, and communicates potential logistical risks to the supply chain
- Supports product cost targets and drive logistics cost reduction opportunities at the earliest time in the product development life cycle
- Prepares, recommends, and monitors transportation budgets for financial planning
- Assists with project implementation and special projects as assigned
Position Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. College degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or Logistics Management preferred.
Experience:
3 or more years direct or related experience in a supply chain logistics role.
Knowledge:
Must have exceptional communication skills, demonstrated leadership skills, business savvy and proven problem-solving ability. Ability to influence cross-functional change and create / build relationships. Must possess extensive knowledge of logistics activities.
