Pahlmeyer, a family owned winery in Napa Valley, is looking for passionate and dedicated Cellar Worker to join our production team.
Pahlmeyer is globally acclaimed for crafting iconic wines from impeccable fruit, grown on our Estate Vineyard, and from neighbors throughout the Napa Valley. The winemaking team is committed to the highest winemaking standards, to produce world-class wines.
Pahlmeyer Cellar Workers are accountable for performing all cellar activities under the overall guidance of our Cellar Master.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Complete all cellar procedures, with great attention to detail, under the direction of the Cellar master.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed.
• Maintain highest standards of cellar cleanliness and sanitation.
• Provide forklift support.
• During harvest, assist in all winery responsibilities including: receiving fruit, additions to fermentation vessels, collecting samples, draining, red and white pressing, barreling down, transporting barrels and grapes.
• Assist with bottling operations including labeling, packaging, and quality control.
• Service and maintain pumps, tanks and mechanical cellar equipment.
• Provide support and oversight of cellar interns and temporary staff.
Job knowledge and abilities:
• Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies.
• Follow directions from Cellar Master under minimal supervision.
• Solid understanding and application of bottling and cellar functions, equipment, and techniques.
• Thorough knowledge and application of sanitation, wine movements, toppings, barrel maintenance, and inventory maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of winemaking processes.
• Aptitude and ability to work with pumps, filtration, gases, fittings, hoses, tanks and other equipment used in cellar and winemaking processes.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to follow precise instructions with accurate results.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized, ability to multi-task, and meet established deadlines and goal.
Key among the requirements will be an exceptional positive attitude, work ethic and great attention to detail. We require at least four years of experience working in wine production. Furthermore, candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work for extended hours, including weekends.
