ABOUT US: Leer Vineyards is a Family owned Boutique winery in Byron, Ca. Our customer focus is to make every person feel like they are part of the Leer Vineyards family. We have a softball field, a large lawn area where customers can relax, have a picnic and spend the day. We welcome children and pets to our tasting room. We have become the go to venue for Live Music, offering "Wine Down Fridays" featuring local bands and large concerts, so far featuring Clay Walker, Kelli Pickler, Coffey Anderson and Easton Corbin will be here next month. We are a fun, exciting place to work and are looking for the perfect person to fit right in and love our wines and customers as much as we do. 

SUMMARY: The primary focus of this Associate is to share Leer Vineyards wine, knowledge and history with guests at Leer Vineyards. This involves quickly absorbing a great deal of information and being able to relevantly relate it to each guest. Tasting Room Associates are responsible for creating a positive experience for every guest they encounter. Teamwork, a sense of humor, a strong work ethic and a true enjoyment of both wine and people are vital for success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following reflects the Proprietor and Managements definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.  Proprietors and/or  Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Working weekends and evenings
  • Providing the first line of information to the customer by greeting, directing and answering questions regarding our wines, merchandise, history, and facility.
  • Serving samples of wine, along with appropriate information concerning the wines, to customers in both individual and group settings.
  • Leading by example
  • Ensuring wines are adequately stocked in the Retail Area.
  • Stocking and pricing merchandise.
  • Handling routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers for daily sales.
  • Performing facility housekeeping, to include Tasting Room, restrooms, furniture set up and breakdown daily etc.
  • Serving and attending to guests during Leer Vineyards events, on and off-site.
  • Providing assistance to guests carrying out purchases, as required.
  • Attending scheduled monthly meetings.
  • Completing duties from opening and closing checklists.
  • Expanding wine education and knowledge.
  • Finding work to do when slow.
  • Willing to work in other Leer Vineyards departments or on special projects.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. 

  • Has at least one year of related experience to include fulfillment, sales, and/or customer service
  • Is at least 21 years of age
  • Has a reputation for providing great service to guests and co-workers

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as well as flexibility in scheduling to ensure business-staffing needs are met. Our hours of operation are: Thursday, 5-9pm; Friday, 3-10pm; Saturday, 12-7pm and Sunday, 11-6pm. Additional hours required when we have special events/concerts/weddings etc.

Hourly rate plus commission once training period is successfully completed.
