The Spanish name was chosen as a tribute to the place and the people behind the wines, alma meaning soul and rosa referring to the original California Rancho Santa Rosa land grant, the location of our Rancho El Jabalí Vineyard.

SUMMARY

The business operations manager position is responsible for the administration and accounting operations of the company, to include the management of all administration, accounting, finance and human resource functions, management of cash flow, production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Prepare budgets and manage cash flow.
• Coordinate the provision of information to external CPA for the annual tax return preparation.
• Maintain and ensure alcohol compliance and regulations as required by federal and state laws
• Oversee all administration and human resource activities, including payroll, benefits administration and adherence to company polices.
• Supervise the hiring, performance evaluation and discipline of all employees.
• Conduct financial analysis for sales, acquisitions, build outs, etc.
• Track and reconcile inventory and perform all cost accounting and analysis.
• Issue timely and complete financial statements, including financial and operating metrics.
• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
• Provide for a system of management cost reports.
• Ensure that accounts payable are paid timely and accounts receivable are collected promptly.
• Supervise and approve the bi-weekly in-house payroll process.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. 
• Maintain the chart of accounts, an orderly accounting filing system and maintain a system of controls over all accounting transactions.
• Administer and maintain all contracts with distributors, vendors and employees.
• Assist the General Manager in reaching goals and objectives related to sales, productivity, profitability and industry penetration.
• Other duties as assigned by the General Manager.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises the Administration, Accounting, Finance and Human Resource functions, including the bookkeeper and office administrator. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position will report directly to the General Manager and the Owner.

Ability to work well with other employees, consultants, vendors and consumers.

DECISION-MAKING

This position requires a high level of decision-making skills and ability, with a keen eye for details.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to serve as a leader of an organization. 
• Experience working within the wine industry preferred.
• Analytical, able to see the big picture, and have experience with inventory and cost accounting.
• Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills, QuickBooks.
• Adaptable and flexible: ability to change direction and be part of a dynamic organization.
• Experience in alcohol compliance and farming operations preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required: A minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience in administration, accounting and human resources to successfully perform this job. Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• CPA designation is preferred but not a requirement.
