The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in inventory processes, be analytical in nature, and be able to work independently and manage multiple projects with a wide variety of diverse tasks.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Inventory Planning and Control Specialist will plan and control inventory of raw material and finished goods to meet sales and customer demand. Analyze inventory levels, inventory positioning, planned production and sales forecasts. Coordinate with material handling, production planning, and warehouse personnel to ensure appropriate routing, scheduling, and storing of inventory. Develop, implement, and maintain all of the procedures and protocols in regards to proper inventory control for the purpose of maintaining accurate financial information. The Specialist will take ownership of and execute the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to achieve the best possible customer delivery performance and help optimize the use of inventory, equipment and labor. This includes ensuring our planning considers material and capacity availability when committing product to customers and ensuring we collaborate to load an achievable production schedule. The role will utilize analytical and problem solving methods to draw conclusions resulting in improved integrated business forecasting.        

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing, documenting, and executing the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process to drive optimal customer service and profitability.
  • Partner with the Accounting department to ensure that all transactions are being accounted for.
  • Work to resolve discrepancies between the amount of inventory and the sales forecast quickly and accurately.
  • Develop and implement systems to accurately manage inventory and resolve issues that may become apparent.

  • Work with the Material Handling team to ensure movement of inventory is executed properly in physical movement and within our ERP system.

  • Report to upper management regularly and provide recommendations for better inventory control.

  • Partner with internal teams to help drive tools and process improvements that affect purchasing and supplier management workflow, with emphasis on automating tasks that are currently performed manually.

  • Drive process improvement and operational excellence within our supplier community by reducing costs, defects, and lead times, while increasing innovation, automation, and economies of scale.

  • Perform complex business analysis that identifies opportunities to improve cost structure and profitability.

  • Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings to review the analyzed data and gather consensus from Sales, Operations, Product Management and Finance.
  • Ensure the weekly Gemba walk board is properly maintained and updated with critical business metrics.

  • Develop, maintain, and update company metrics and report on the findings at Operations meetings.

  • Work on continuous improvement projects relating to the integrated business forecasting processes.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, industrial engineering, or supply chain discipline required.

  • 3+ years of supply chain and/or operations experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability of managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting & distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple sources.

  • Strong working knowledge of Master Planning Principles and traditional MRP systems.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV software or other ERP system a plus.

  • Strong analytical and financial skills required.

  • Knowledge of supply chain/logistics processes, technology & current best practices.

  • Able to prioritize and meet deadlines with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to contribute to a positive work atmosphere by effectively communicating with all levels of the Cork Supply team.
