Cork Supply USA, a wine industry supplier of “Top of the Bottle” and “Oak” products, is seeking a paid Intern to work full-time as a Research & Development Assistant for a four month temporary assignment to start immediately.  New graduates are encouraged to apply.

REPORTS TO:  R&D Scientist   

JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Intern is to support the R&D Scientist and Analytical Chemist in conducting analytical processes and recording results. The products being tested include French and American oak for traditional and alternative oak products, natural corks, synthetic corks, screwcaps, and capsules. The Intern will follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to best laboratory practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform GC-MS analysis on oak and cork aromas.

• Analyze quality control samples.

• Prepare chemical calibration solutions.

• Setup, tear-down, and clean sensory glassware.

• Enter analytical and sensory results into database.

• Maintain the sample library storage area.

• Perform incoming inspections on oak products

• Construct data summary reports of haloanisole and oak marker compounds for customers.

• Comply with all company policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or current college student in Chemistry or science related field. 

• Laboratory experience required.

• Previous experience within the wine industry a plus.

• Previous wine sensory experiences a plus.

• Good communication skills.

• Good time management skills.

• Able to prioritize workload and adjust as necessary to meet the demands of time-sensitive projects.

• Demonstrate loyalty and a high level of integrity.

• Be clean, organized, detail oriented and multi-task simultaneous projects.

• Proficient with computers. Excellent MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
