Talley Vineyards is currently seeking a Regional Sales Manager to join our wholesale team. The Regional Sales Manager serves as the key point of contact for Talley Vineyards with trade customers within a defined geographic region (TBD), with extensive travel to communicate the Talley Vineyards/Bishop’s Peak story and sales objectives. This position works closely with the National Sales Manager to coordinate sales through all channels to ensure that Talley Vineyards and Bishop’s Peak wines are sold to the best customers in the most profitable and efficient manner possible.
This position may be a remote employee. Close proximity to a major airport would be helpful.
Responsibilities:
General Sales
• Ongoing communication with National Sales Manager and other key staff. Participation in a standing weekly phone conference with National Sales Manager, Brian Talley, other key staff as necessary.
• Check inventory stock status for each distributor and broker. Recommend reallocation as necessary or follow up with customers who are not depleting quickly enough.
Distributor Communication
• Monitor marketing/sales plan for each major market in the geographic region.
• Regularly communicate with distributors regarding release schedule, goals and performance relative to goals, relevant winery news.
• Monitor Depletions, distributor pricing, on vs. off-premise sales, placements, performance of key sales people, samples/billbacks.
• Conduct quarterly business reviews with distributors.
• Make recommendations regarding appointment/change of distributors, brokers.
• Research / Interview distributors for various markets.
Travel to markets as needed
• Meet with distributor principals, sales managers.
• Call on key accounts.
• Work with salespeople.
• Make presentations to salespeople.
• Conduct server training seminars.
• Participate in wine dinners, trade tastings, etc.
• Prepare/distribute itinerary – e-mail to National Sales Manager
• Touch base with salespeople regarding samples, other needs
• Prepare collateral materials (fact sheets, reviews, etc.) for work days/seminars
• Prepare detailed overview of trip including all sales calls and contacts with accounts, distributor sales reps, managers and principals. Share this information with National Sales Manager and update Vinosmith.
Marketing
• Work with National Sales Manager to determine what marketing tools/materials are needed.
• Provide programs and incentive ideas for promoting sales in specific markets.
Special Requests, Events, Publicity, and Promotion
• Field donation requests, related to or generated from the trade. Forward to National Sales Manager as needed.
• Work with Sales & Marketing Assistant to schedule winery visits for the trade, including lunches, dinners, tours, tastings as appropriate.
• Coordinate Winemaker Dinners and discuss with National Sales Manager as needed.
• Consider participation in special events—auctions, tastings, etc. and discuss with National Sales Manager as needed. Assist with planning.
• Field any other special requests. Forward to National Sales Manager as needed.
Office Duties
• Update Distributor Contact Information.
• Maintain email database of distributors and accounts for new release info and other communications.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 4 years in wine sales, including wholesale sales with some wholesale management experience
• 5 years in the wine industry
• Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency with sales management software, CRM software
