We are looking for enthusiastic, wine savvy people to join our team at Solano Cellars, a boutique wine shop located in Albany CA.
We are currently accepting applications for an Assistant Manager position. The position is full-time, with compensation and benefits to be based on the applicant’s experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Oversee daily store operations, merchandising and staff management
o Address customer sales inquiries in the store, online, or via the phone
o Schedule and conduct tastings with importers, brokers, distributors and small wineries
o Select product (wine, beer) and manage inventory across all sales channels
o Develop programming and marketing initiatives, including email offers
o Maintain and identify product for monthly club programs
o Manage web inventory on a monthly basis, execute online orders, and contribute to social media campaigns as necessary
o Participate in the development of tactical and strategic projects
o Manage Wine Bar in the evenings, including light food preparation (cheese and charcuterie)
o Represent the store at tasting events; in store, offsite, and at industry events
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess:
o Previous retail wine experience, wine literacy and ideally, ability to aid in wine education
o Strong customer service + communication (oral, written) capability
o Good organization skills, ability to multi-task and independently solve problems
o Professional demeanor, positive, friendly attitude and willingness to be a team player
o Passion for wine and desire to learn more about the product & industry
o Comfort working in a Tasting Room environment in the evenings, including light food prep
o Schedule flexibility, incl evening & weekend hours and the ability to work 35-45 hrs/ week
o Basic computer skills (Mac preferred); social media and Internet skills a plus
o Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time (6+ hrs), and carry up to 40 lbs of wine
o Candidates must be 21+ years of age and a legal resident of the United States
o Local candidates preferred

Solano Cellars is located on Solano Avenue on the Albany-Berkeley border. We feature a broad and high-quality selection of small production California and imported wines in equal proportions. Our store caters to both a national customer base and neighborhood locals. The shop has a wine bar that serves a rotating selection of wines by the glass and a simple bar menu of cheeses and charcuterie.
